Detective Frank S. Roche a twenty five year veteran of the Greenfield Police Department passed away from cancer on Saturday May 2, 1998 at the age of 49. Detective Roche at the time of his death was assigned to the juvenile division of the detective bureau and coordinated the investigations of child sexual assaults and all other major crimes involving juveniles. Frank came to the Greenfield Police Department from the western Massachusetts town of North Adams. He served as a United States Marine in Vietnam during the war and was extremely proud of his service to his country. He graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in Framingham and Greenfield Community College.
