Become a Greenfield Police Officer

NOTE:  An examination was given by the Massachusetts Human Resources Division  in April of 2009.  The results of this exam will likely be certified around the second week of July 2009 at which time the Greenfield Police Department will be able to call for a list of viable candidates.

The
Massachusetts Human Resources Division holds examinations every two years for various Civil Service positions to include entry-level positions for either Reserve-Intermittent police officers or for entry-level full time personnel.

The Greenfield Police Department  is constantly seeking men and women over the age of 21 for law enforcement careers. Qualified individuals are selected from the results of  examinations administered by the  Massachusetts Human Resources Division.  Applicants who take this exam are placed on a banded list according to their written score and other parameters which is utilized by the department to select potential recruit officers. Once you appear on this list the fun really begins....

Reserve Officers are utilized on shifts to augment the permanent patrol force. Reserve officers have a probationary period that extends over fifteen months and once this process is completed the officer will be considered a permanent reserve officer and eligible for full time police officer postings.
